Another one meant to be on his way out tomorrow....[. I heard Grant wil be given the chance to get West Ham to the League Cup final but if they crash out then he goes. They play next Tuesday. As for Keane I think the Ipswich board are willing him to turn it around and he's another who's fate might depend on the League Cup semi but it's a tough ask against what I suspect will be a full strength Arsenal. I think it's unlikely either of these will go less than seven days before a semi final.

Ipswich Managerial Reign - W28 D25 L28 W%34.57
Ipswich had a promotion challenging squad didn't they? That's simply not good enough
In contrast - a promotion winning manager
W57 D23 L26 W%53.77
For their expectations (I'm not an ipswich fan so not sure how high their expectations should be but presume promotion) he's done poorly - so I don't think Chris was actually fishing. He just wasn't the man for the job.

Good Riddance to bad rubbish. Good fishing! I've made my opinions on the "man" clear in the other Keane thread so hardly fishing. Hopefully he will quit the game now, never to be seen again, my only fear is he now takes up a TV pundit job. God help us.

Fair play, you got that one right. I'm surprised with that semi final looming. The actual sacking is unsurprising but the timing is. Burley to go back ? Apparently Paul Jewell is the favourite. If it is Jewell he needs to get his teeth into a job and get his reputation right back up. I thought he was nailed on to become one of the brightest managers in the game when he was with Bradford in the Premiership but has lost his way since.

I take it Baldy still thinks he did a good job? I think he would have done. Ipswich needed to hold their nerve and back him through this spell. Like most they've bottled it and sacked him and will now move on to the next and the next and the next..... Championship or League 1 for ever more.

Like we've done over the past 15 or so years you mean? Interesting to see his win % (34.57) is worse than Patto's at Oxford (38%)

His first managerial job at Sunderland was a success, but that didn't last long. There have been some exceptional players who didn't make it as a manager. Bobby Charlton, Booby Moore, both great players, intelligent men, but didn't have what it took to become top managers
