Realy balls'y desicision, but what a pay off.
It also shows the strength of the squad, that Wilder has picked.
For our first season back, our management has hopefully shown that we can compete again in the football league.
Lets hope for a good finish this year, and next year push on for promotion.
Haway the lads.

Great post. You'll have to translate that last part for me though, I don't speak Scottish.

Why should we be satisfied with staying in this league and not expect promotion is beyond me !! We are Oxford United not Macclesfeld Barnet or Accrington Stanley. Did Doncaster and Carlisle have the same attitude i think not.

It might be better to get used to the idea of considation this year and remember that teams often go up two seasons running only for it to end in tears. I think with our support we could make the play offs but there are clubs like Port Vale, Wycombe and Rotherham who look better equipped to go up. There is a long way to go but we are showing signs of doing well this year compare that with tw years ago...we are not far off

Did Doncaster and Carlisle have the same attitude i think not. Our attitude has to be malleable depending on how we are playing. I don't think this squad is good enough for promotion so I would be happy with mid table obscurity this season before pressing on next season. If we start firing, however, maybe I will start looking up at the play-offs.

If we combined our recent goalscoring form with our early season defensive form, we'd be good enough to challenge for the title. How we can get both to work at the same time is totally beyond me.

we need to be going for promotion - we are not macc or barnet or accrington - we are a BIG Club in this league, if not the BIGGEST club

So we don't go up, have a bad season, fire a manager that just got back to back promotions and then get relegated again, presumably.

I would be happy for our young squad to consolidate and give it a real push next season, especially if it was more likely to lead to a sustained spell in League 1.

At the start of every season Promotion is the aim and relegation avioded. We have a chance to hit both the playoffs and the automatic promotion spots, so therefore we need to aim high and go for it. If its consolidation then whats the point of competing.
