We travelled to Macclesfield with an unbeaten record but having fallen to a disappointing home defeat to Aldershot in the previous match. The players appeared to be seeking to make up for that and started the match with a bang with James Constable scoring just 6 minutes in and continued dominating for the rest of the first half. A shot from Hall hit the bar, before Constable and later Potter each went close to doubling the lead, while Craddock managed to somehow spurn two great chances. He did get on the scoresheet eventually, though, after Alfie Potter squared it for him to tap in past the helpless keeper just before half time. However, having wasted so many chances in the first half, we were punished in the second. Macclesfield were back in it just 6 minutes into the second half, after we failed to deal with a rebound from a long-range shot, and the scores were level soon after when Macclesfield capitalised on a gaping hole in the defence. At this point there was only ever going to be one winner and a now dominant Macclesfield sealed their comeback on 76 minutes in similar fashion to the second, leaving Oxford fans angry and despondent about such a terriffic collapse.
