...For the 2 excellent subs in the 2nd half. Alfie and Beano made all the difference. Good choices I thought. Beano gave us a physical edge, and Potter gave us craft and mobility which made Barnet lose their shape. Fair Play M'lord.

Rad Ox made the comment that Craddock was coming back into the game and that it was a strong decision to bring on Beano. I think the h/t substitution is more crucial i.e. early decision to change it.

I always think Batt looks more restrained when he doesn't have a real wide man, like Potter, up ahead of him. When there is no natural width in the side Batt seems to come inside and get snuffed out. With Potter up ahead he will link up on the outside and bomb on.

Craddock looked way off it yesterday - far too slow in getting up to support MacLean, too slow and dithering when in possession. Not surprised at all by the amount of criticism he was getting from the stands.

Green always brought the best out in Batt, but for some reason has struggled to find the best in himself except when coming on as a sub this season. What Matt Green always did is cut inside about halfway into the opponents half, allowing Batt space to burst forward, but no so early as to be caught out. Potter doesn't quite do that - I think Potter combines better with Purkiss, but I think 4-3-3 suits Batt far better, whereas 4-4-2 suits Purkiss better. It's a question of weighing up which is more valuable to the team I spose.

I thought Craddock had been coming in to the game when he went off, mind you, can't have been easy playing when people were slagging you off and chanting "beano! beano!" after 20 minutes.

I felt sorry for Craddock, not only about the flack he was getting, but the fact that he was not playing as 2 but as part of the midfield. Maclean spent a lot of his game on his own up front.
Wilder wanted Craddock and the club found the £75k to get him, so why is our most expensive player getting the bird from fans when its the way he is used by the manager thats the problem.

Big thumbs up for Wilder from here, yes he doesn't get everything right but we are in a good solid position.

All speculation, typical Ox mail.
