There are some very important matches looming at kassams' stadium between December 4th and January 1st, hope you're keeping a close eye on the weather chaps?!

Every match is important though. Yes of course, but when matches are threatened by the elements it's important that those involved in the upkeep of the pitch etc are on full alert- especially over the Christmas period when for instance they might forget to set the alarm clock or have one too many the night before.

Hopefully the club, StadCo and the University have stopped squabbling over who should provide the full pitch covers.
I hope the pitch is covered now because if it's frozen now there's little chance of it thawing over the week or so looking at the forecasted temperatures. Surely they would've covered the pitch a few days ago wouldn't they?
Of course, players and referees could just man up, dig out an orange ball and play on a frost covered pitch like they used to!

Isn't it a health and safety issue playing on frozen pitch with an orange ball?

I was under the assumption that KT and StadCo had bought pitch covers at the start of the season?
I swear was on the website!

mcf86 ? what is your problem ? are you a disgruntled ex employee ? you obviously know nothing about how and what goes on with the set up..you just seem like you are on a crusade to knock the university with every chance you get...cheap jibes at university staff....do you give up your free time to help out with getting pitch ready,do you give up all your saturdays from 10 till 6 without getting paid?i know for a fact that some do...every home game come rain or shine...i expect you like to go to the pub, meet your mates, have a pint, sit with your mates whilst game is on then go home happy whilst some are still giving their time for the love of the club....what is your problem chap?

Assumed was the wrong word.
I believed.
I swear I read it somewhere.
Pitch will be fine this winter won't it MA?
BTW thanks for your feedback on this subject - seeing as you're the only one who REALLY knows what they're on aboot.

you may well have done my friend...the set up is riddled with problems and issues of who should do what and provide what.......the university do nothing except maintain the playing surface......all issues like goals, covers, nets are between stadium and football club.....
please hope the weather gets better...i am not joking.

Answered most questions yourself in your reply to 'Beav' - ''Beav....thats the problem with this forum... assuumptions.please please never make assumptions''Clearly i touched a nerve -chap, my post was/is to whoever is responsible for maintaining the pitch at k***ams' -Stadium, so if the cap fits.. Sounds as if the match this saturday is already going to be p/p - and with the weather looking set to maintain its icy grip for weeks - we're shafted.

With the situation at the kassam with no full time ground staff this could happen every winter/cold spell. Not blaming the part timers/volunteers but the plans in place to deal with bad weather are obviously not working. Considering how important for revenue the Christmas games are and how much rent the club pay to the stadium company it's not good enough.

I have a degree of sympathy with markantony, the groundstaff are there to do a job but if they are not supplied with the correct tools then that job becomes much harder. I also see where mcf is coming from, it was a bit of a shambles last winter and the fear amongst OUFC supporters is we will see a repeat this winter. The buck stops with stadco I believe, as it is their stadium and up to them to supply the relevant equipment to maintain the stadium, and we know who the buck stops with there.!!
