Oxford Times story The city council this week published a list of 100 potential development sites in the city.
The 130-vehicle car park in Headington, next to Waitrose, is on the list, as is the Diamond Place car park in Summertown, as revealed in The Oxford Times earlier this month, along with a large car park at the rear of the Vue cinema complex in Grenoble Road, and the Union Street car park behind the Tesco Metro in Cowley Road.
Anyone know any more about this?

Where are we talking exactly? Directly behind the Complex or the bit to the side over the stream?

More parking at the stadium can only be a good thing.

How come the science park don't allow cars in there large car park? They have a mini multi story don't they? Which is never used on a Saturday. Even if they charged a couple quid a car, they'd make a fair bit every match.

Theyre basically saying that they'll build something where the car park is arent they? In which case much less matchday parking and much more parking ticket revenue?
One for Oxvox?

The key word is 'potential'. Every time the Council draws up its local plan they have to identify a number of potential development sites and earmark them for a certain use (residential, commercial, sports, etc). Very few potential sites ever get built on - look back through previous local plans and you'll find around 30-40 sites identified as potential for a football ground. None of them ever came to fruition (the current site was never identified in a local plan as being suitable for a football stadium).
I wouldn't worry about it too much (which is not to say that the situation shouldn't be monitored and questions possibly asked of local councillors).

Still only one entrance/exit.... ages to get out, even more if more spaces are added

That car park would be improved by creating a separate exit onto Grenoble Road along the back of the cinema. There is room for it.

I've found a map now See :- Variety of uses proposed by landowner or may be possible32 Car park to the rear of cinema complex 140 Oxford Science Park (Minchery Farm) Principle use to remain but may have potential for a variety of other uses as well92 Kassam Stadium and surrounding area ----- Read Boris's post. It is apparent they are identifying plot 32 (the overflow car-park)as having potential for development. NOT building more car park.
