This was posted on the OxMail website and I think he has summed it up well, I agree with every word....
Wilder has not learnt from last season. People accuse Wilder of tinkering - its not tinkering its wholesale changes that cause problems. It was the tried and trusted players that got us promoted - not the likes of 'Northern Grit' Grant. Wilder started the season with a good squad well capable of finishing above halfway up the table if not better. We have played attractive football but when a few results go wrong Wilder loses faith in players undermines confidence by droping them or playing a player who have not performed for too long, transfers useful players out of the club, attends player carboot sales and brings in old 'has- beens' (has Wilder actually watched these players). I agee with an earlier pster 4-4-2 at home and make use of the skills of Potter and Green to inject pace and havoc in the opnents half. There were long periods of the Gillingham game where the only option was to knock it long usually with the vain hope somebody might run on to a ball that was not too high or over hit.
Did we really need yet another striker, centre back or midfield player. Westley at Stevenage, on half the budget, is doing reasonably well with what he has - has that got something to do with being a good manager? I don not see him swaping players in and out of the club.
We are not half way through the season and we have got rid of five players and brought in four. None of these changes have been forced by injury - just by panic!
Well now I am begining to panic - losing five games at home already is a very bad sign in deed. Could we actually practice some dead ball moves and get someone who can actually reach the penalty spot with a corner - concentrating on the basics in a 4-4-2 formation will bring better results than constantly changing the team around.
