Not the working title for the new JK Rowling series.
Can anyone post a table of our leading goalscorers - I had a quick google for it and couldn't find anything?
Given how prolific Beano has been while he's been with us, I was wondering IF he manages over 20 goals this season, how high he could end up?
Although most of his goals so far have been at Conference level, if he manages over 20 again, what does he need to achieve to become a 'legend' - or is he nearly there?

I think he's got himself in to our top 10 all time scorers. I think the list is on rage online? Would his hat trick against Chester count?

Cheers. My googling needs work. There's a chance that at the end of this season he could be 5th all time - particularly in you add the Chester goals.. Nearly a legend?

Nearly, not quite. Another 20 goals should do it!

I guess its a question of the difference between being a legend and being prolific. Obviously you can be both but people hold players such as saunders as legends but beano has already played more and scored more than him for example. Obviously at a higher standard but surely an Oxford legend is someone who is a legend at the current oxford level. Beano is our biggest player since the turn of the millenium surely.
Another 15-20 goals this season would seal him for me as one of if not our most porlific goalscorers ever.

Nice quote on the BBC website from him.....
James Constable honoured by Oxford United captaincy
Constable originally joined Oxford on loan from Shrewsbury in 2008 Oxford United striker James Constable says being given the club captaincy is one of the highlights of his career.
The 25-year-old, who will lead the team out in Saturday's opener at Burton, has taken over from Adam Murray, who left the club this summer.
"I came here two years ago and have just fallen in the love with the place," Constable told BBC Oxford.
"To lead the team out is a great honour. It's something I am delighted to be doing and I am very proud."
Constable, who captained the U's for the second half of last season when Murray was injured, scored 26 times during Oxford United's promotion season but he says it did not take long after the play-off final win over York to think about the year ahead.
He said: "As soon as you lift that trophy you have the enjoyment of doing it, but you know it was for one thing, to be back in the league.
"We can look forward to a season of League Two football now and we will be aiming for some success at the end of it."

You could argue non-league doesn't count so he starts from scratch

He's already a legend in a lot of people's eyes. Getting out of the conference is the single most important thing the club has done in 10 years. Beano is largely responsible for that.

It's an age thing really. If you haven't seen somebody play then you are unlikely to consider them. If the criteria is 'getting into the league', as yours appears to be, then Bud Houghton would be top. (see the rage online link in one of the above posts) and it was he and Johnny Love who got me hooked on OUFC. (Headington in those days). But without a doubt - the person who did it at the highest level was the best. Aldo - especially when playing with Billy Hamilton.

You really do let yourself down at times. Beano's a legend, he was one of the team that got us of of the con.

I've been watching OUFC since the 70's. My legends are across the board since then are for all sorts of different reasons.
Billy Hamilton was inspirational.
Keith Cassells was my first love!
John Aldridge and Dean Saunders were prolific.
Matty Elliot was a star in that team.
Gary Briggs would run through walls for us.
Beano is the legend for the present.

he has to be in hall of fame on the basis that his goals have been some of the most vital in the club's history

Because, if he does and gets 20+ goals this season it will go a long way to helping us achieve promotion.

You cant fault him for scoring in the BSP. otherwise we will have no more loved oxford players till were top flight or chapmpionship. OUFC are where they are, and you have legends and favourites at any level. If beano stays and does decently for another season or two then in my eyes he will go down as a big fav of my oufc history.
