Let me start by stating as a fact I am not a member of any facebook group nor did I purchase the said shirt but I will not be bullied into pretending he does not exist any more. I for one, will not forget the many conversation I personally had with the man or how he made me feel when he played. I was at Burton the last away game of the 2008/9 season and anyone else there will know that very moment he scored. How did you feel? Are we now not allowed to talk about this or about how he was awarded the man of the mach at Wembley by Sir Jeff Hurst. He will serve his time and hopefully come back a stronger person but I will not erase part of mine and Oxford United’s history to bow down to a few on message boards that take the holier-than-thou approach. Let’s stop the bullying if people what to create an account it will either get support or not. no one is saying dont have his playing memorys. what im put out by is the messages to him via his fb profile page which are cringe worthy to say the least ( some people even say "goodnight alan" and "thinking of you alan" on a regular basis to him ) and the groups that keep cropping up. as someone mentioned, let chappers serve his time, pay the family of the chap who died the respect they deserve and when he gets released we as fans can give him all the supprt he needs. if you want to offer chappers your support why not put it in writing to him ike roley and others have done. Agree with that. Well said

Alan, Alan, who the f is Alan. However given the late hour of the post I will assume you meant Adam. My point is this:- If a person unknown starts a FB page supporting an “Oxford United Player” this does not make you, me or Oxford United look bad. Most intelligent people understand that FB is mainly (not exclusively) used by the ill advised youth of today. My two sons (17 -14) are prime examples. However they must be allowed to express their views (within the law) I am sure we all said things when we were younger that we probably would not today. Junior you are entitled to your views and you post them on a very regular basis please let others have there’s. If you really do not want to see these groups then don’t advertise them on Oxford United message boards, write to the group asking the group to stop. I have even looked for the group and cannot find it how the hell does anyone else. Link please I may sympathise with your views if I could see what was being said. I have just written this sentence and this is exactly my point if it offends people stop bloody looking for it. If I want to write to Adam personally and privately I will and that will remain private.

I am aware that I am against the holier-than-thou brigade on this one but as someone who has actually had the pleasure of meeting the man I believe he not only needs our support when he hopefully returns he also needs our support now, at his most darkest of hours. Not as some appear to want to cast him into the shadow of darkness until his return. (This is not personal comment against anyone more an observation).
FB is not the solution I concur but people must be allowed to show him signs of support publicly if they wish (assuming it is respectful) and privately.

I think Adam Chapman should NOT be in prison. Yes, he's done a bad thing but being incarcerated isn't going to do him any good and won't bring back the poor bloke who copped it. Prison should be there to keep dangerous people off the street, Chapman isn't a danger to anyone, he's deeply remorsefull and I think they should think about a non custodial punishment, say, 500 hours community service and £10,000 fine. Every day I pick up my paper and read about paedophiles, muggers, robbers and rapists getting a slap on the wrist and being handed down pathetic sentences by our over lenient courts yet these people are real criminals, scumbags who really deserve prison. The law is an ass in this country and they also talk about prisons being full to bursting point and they want to get less dangerous people out of prison so surely Chapman falls into that catagory? Sorry if this sounds insensitive but it's reality.... Whether Chapman is a danger to society is not an issue. The thing is, prison shouldn't just be about keeping the streets safe. It is also about punishing serious crimes, and killing somebody by dangerous driving IS A SERIOUS CRIME, which is something Adam Chapman fully acknowledges. When you get behind that wheel of a car, it makes you think a bit before acting like a loon - If I crash into someone, there is a possibility I might kill somebody, which will result in a jail sentence together with losing my job. Driving a car is a position of responsibility, and you need these deterrents in place to keep the roads safer.

I just had a look at this group, and there are about 30 people who've joined it.. I would've thought half of these are people on there trying to get it shut down.
