We look to have at least on paper and from the action seen so far, a strong looking squad as we look to make an assault on league two. But who else has a strong squad on paper?
I would say Wycombe Wanderers, Shrewsbury Town, Bradford City and Chesterfield look pretty good. Rotherham look decent as do Port Vale.
I've seen what Mark Yates has done at Cheltenham and for a club with a smallish budget for this league, he has brought two or three useful players.

Gillingham have a decent squad. However, they have just lost Simeon Jackson, who IMO would have been top goalscorer in the league. And they have also lost Simon King (Ex OUFC) to injury until about Xmas time!

Chesterfield have signed some excellent players so on paper should be a strong team. The one unknown for them is how the new stadium will affect them, whether they can turn it into a 'fortress' or whether the opponents raise their game instead.
Burton seem to be quietly strengthening their team with some good players as well such as Adam Bolder from Millwall who has spent most of his career in the Championship with Derby.

Aldershot, despite getting into the play-offs have lost a lot of their squad.
They have signed ex-Reading and Portsmouth winger Glenn Little this week who is technically an excellent player still at 34.

Who have Chesterfield signed then markedox? Dwayne Mattis (midfielder from Walsall), Danny Whittaker (midfielder from Oldham) and Simon Ford (Central defender from Kilmarnock) who were regulars in higher divisions last season. Also, Ian Morris, a winger on a season-long loan from Sc*nthorpe (he's started 52 times + 34 as sub for Scunny since 2006/07 season) and, Craig Davies, our ex-striker! This is on top of a decent squad to begin with.

I thought at the beginning of the week that we were only really lacking serious competition at centre back and centre forward.
Worley and Franks signing have adressed the centre backs, and I really only think we could do with an out and out centre forward. The forwards we have are all very good and have different attributes. Beano - works hard for 90 mins, never lets the opposition defenders rest, scores plenty of goals. Jack - Skillful and intelligent, tends to drop off defenders creating space for others. Greeny - Pace, power, gets wide, more of a confidence player, when he's on form he's deadly, off-form, can be frustrating and frustrated.
The one type of forward I think we lack is a quick, in the box, poacher. Examples: Michael Owen (before injuries); Jermaine Defoe; John Aldridge. Perhaps this is the kind of player that CW is looking to bring in on loan?
If we can get this type of player in then I think we will have a squad with competition in every position, with youth on its side, and as good as we have seen at The Kassam.

League 2 is more of a level playing field, 3 consecutive wins can raise your position considerably and 3 straight defeats can put you in trouble. Consistency will be key this coming season.

Ive seen/read nothing about Franks signing? My take on it was he wanted one of the bunch of CB's we had on trial and Worley won the race.

I could have sworn I saw somewhere that Franks had signed a 6 month contract.

It was posted somewhere on TiU that Franks had signed for 6 months, but was never announced by the club i don't think. www.oxfordshireforums.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=111596

With Day being out for 6 to 8 weeks, and Franks impressing while he was playing today, my bet is that Franks will be offered a contract.
