It sounds silly, but a goal DOES look better when it flies into a nice goal net and the fact that this keeps coming up proves that a lot of people think that.
Its clearly a small thing, but its a small cost so get it done!

12:45, Is it even open then? What do you do in there for two and a quarter hours?

On that point, when does it open for first admission? To be first in would be a bit surreal just sat there on your own!

Its clearly a small thing, but its a small cost so get it done! Agree. I think the best ones are quite shallow box shape nets with saggy netting, a bit like the old Newcastle goal nets in the 1970's. The ball hits the net and just drops to the ground rather than pinging everywhere like it does in those really springy box nets. The ones I dislike are those very deep box goals, sometimes the ball wont reach the back of the net. A net should always bulge when a goal is scored and those old style Newcastle ones were great for that, a bit like a comic strip goal !

Maybe so but you can have the most aesthetically pleasing 'club to be proud of' on earth and still achieve f#ck all. The shape/style of the goal nets makes no difference to me one way or another.# What really makes you proud of the club IMO is the results they achieve on the pitch. Then why are you questioning a forum user to whom it clearly does. The current nets at the OM stand end are filthy and there's nothing wrong with a fan who wants them to look better. Replace them like for like then???

Best bet is to chuck in 'Clive Allen goal at Coventry' - I don't know if you can recall it but he smashed a free kick from 35 yards and it rocketed into the net, bounced miles out and the ref waved play on.
Sort of backs up what you say about the tight nets ! A bit too tight maybe.

Surely the whole point of box nets is that the ball doesn't fly out, but nestles nicely in the back of the net? something like these from the 2006 world cup www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta_la6vIaFc
