Just watched the goals again on the Football league Show, and I must say that our goal nets look absolutely shite! Come on club isn't about time we had a decent set of White hexagonally knotted box goal nets. Even the likes of Burton Albion have got them now. They can't cost that much can they?

;D It has to be said though. Our goal nets look non league. I think they would definately make the place look a bit more proffesional looking. I mean c'mon they cadged these ones from the old manor ground!!

They do look very dirty, I agree.
But I think this may be up to the StadCo? And we all know what they are like!

KT said at the OxVox meeting a couple of weeks ago that we now have new goals and nets... they just haven't been erected yet.
Not sure why it takes so long to put them up though.

Thats good news, didn't know that. Do you know if they are the box type with the support poles? or have we got another Sunday league set?

I don't know why this topic is so important to some people. Personally I'd rather we were putting lots of balls into the nets rather than worrying about what the nets looked like when the balls went in.

There will always be reply's like yours LG... as long as the ball goes in the back of the net, etc etc, in any discussions that are about improving anything else apart from the team. I think being proud about your kit, stands, ground, pitch, club shop, and all the other facilities is part of being proud of your club.

Maybe so but you can have the most aesthetically pleasing 'club to be proud of' on earth and still achieve f#ck all. The shape/style of the goal nets makes no difference to me one way or another.# What really makes you proud of the club IMO is the results they achieve on the pitch.

Then why are you questioning a forum user to whom it clearly does. The current nets at the OM stand end are filthy and there's nothing wrong with a fan who wants them to look better.

I have never ever noticed what the nets look like at any ground. The only time I notice them is when they are shuddering when a ball has been lashed into them.

On fifa, lots of people requested that they should have the option of tin-pot goals as opposed to box goals and they have included it this year in the options!

I've heard there's a stand off between the groundstaff and the stadium company as to who puts them. Neither party wants to put the hard work in it seems.

Don't they take the goals down after ever match anyway? I've certainly been inside the Kassam on a non-match day and they haven't been up then. But then I guess they need to make the holes for the stanchion posts etc...

When I get in the stadium at 12:45 they are just putting the nets up usually there are 2 people doing it. At the leicester game there was 2 box style yellow and blue goal nets laid out on the floor between the ox mail and the north stand.
