We should do a 'Hereford' and put the Chavenage fans in there to get wet ;D
Only need 1 row for them though

In all seriousness, there haven't been many games since we've been at the Kassam where a temporary stand could've been needed. The Villa, Swindon, Orient games and the playoff semis are the only ones that spring to mind.
I'd like to see a temporary stand there for the really big games where 12000 plus crowds are expected but these are few and far between unfortunately.

I remember a while back in the FA Cup some small non league side played newcastle (i think) and put one up for that game only. So surely the economic benefit of selling x amount of tickets outweighs having to put the stand up

The cost of hiring a temporary stand and erecting it can be covered if you are certain that it will sell out for one event. The cost of hiring a temporary stand for a whole season is possibly too much at the moment, given that it would only be used a few times over the season. If/when we get to league 1, you could look at half a dozen or so games over the season where we could get close to a sell-out and it may make economical sense.

Yeah perhaps my previous post wasn't clear. I was talking about erecting it for specific sell out matches where we could shift more if we had capacity - a play off of an FA cup match against a top 4 (or liverpool!) or the scum. At the moment it would be atotal waste for the whole season. even in the league above it may only be required a few times a season

Surely you'd have to take the fence down too?!

Surely you'd have to take the fence down too?! If the stand was big enough it could go over the fence

I am surprised that Hereford considered it viable especially as their part of the ground appeared half empty and the temporary stands ended up half full for our game. I can't see them getting much return on the investment if they stay in place for the rest of the season.
I cant see any normal league games this season where temporary stands would be viable. If we drew a top Premiership team in the FA cup it might work and maybe if we played Bradford/NorthamptonWycome in the play-offs. Otherwise it would be a white elphant.
It might be viable in League One where half a dozen teams could bring enough fans to make it worthwhile.

To lift some info from one of the few active threads on the TIU forum, surely Firoz Kassam has a duty of care to Oxford United where he has to leave them a viable stadium to play at? Just because they can afford this rent doesn't mean that they have a stadium. I'd recommend Firoz giving them the fourth stand end as their own as gesture of good will so they can have their own stadium and in turn allow the unfinished stadium to be complete once and forever?

I don't think those four words have ever been put together before when relating to OUFC.

If they could give them that bit, the club could build the fourth stand and the whole project could be complete.
Is it not asset stripping, sellings a clubs land and effects to one of your own businesses?

Temporary terrace. Anyone seen the one they had/have at Abingdon United? Seriously, like that but say, triple the size (and no seats)....how much can that possibly cost to get built?
