A bumper crowd of 8185 turned out to see an Oxford side unbeaten all season, against a midtable Aldershot. An entertaining and positive match, in which both sides created chances, but lacking in cutting edge. The deadlock was finally broken on 74 minutes after Odubade won a penalty, which was then converted by Andy Burgess. Burgess sealed the match 10 minutes later, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up to send everyone home happy.

After 10 league games without a win, and now 8 points behind leaders Dagenham, not many Oxford fans would have been confident of a win in a tricky away tie at Aldershot. However, after a positive start with plenty of U's pressure it appeared an Oxford victory might be on the cards after Odubade scored 5 minutes before half time. However, after failing to kill off the game in the second half and allowing Aldershot back into the match, a much-needed victory was thrown away with just 4 minutes remaining to see the winless streak stretch to 11 games.

Wallowing in a lowly 15th position in the Conference and fresh off the back of a disappointing goalless draw at home to Grays, it was inevitable that we would lose away at table-topping Aldershot. However, despite the result the performance was a positive note, having matched the league leaders for most of the match - a 65th minute headed goal from John Grant being the crucial difference between the two sides.

Our first match back in this much-maligned competition since defeat to Cheltenham Town in 2005 came away at Aldershot, with just 243 Oxford fans travelling for the occaision. They needn't have bothered. Despite starting brightly and coming close to scoring on a couple of occaisions, being denied by the crossbar from one such chance, we were unable to find the back of the net and were punished by Aldershot in the 17th minute with a powerful drive past Clarke in goal. After this Oxford rarely looked like getting back into the game, and when an opportunity did present itself to Matt Green after a stray backpass from one of the Aldershot defenders he was unable to beat the keeper. A string of chances followed for Aldershot before they doubled their lead on 58 minutes after more poor defending and the match was effectively over. We again hit the bar later in the match after Creighton got his toe to a free kick delivered into the box, but again we were unable to find the net, stretching our run of matches without scoring to 4
