why can't we defend set pieces? We're mullering them but not defending set pieces.

Maclean should be in the middle - not out wide.
Swap him and Beano round.

We're all over them but simply can't defend, new back four needed!

What is the point of having a defensive coach if we cannot defend? Sorry we are too easy to score against, perhaps we should dispense with this waste of money or change it.

The real problem was highlighted by Peter Taylor when he said that Oxford used their full backs to attack and that this left holes at the back. OK he didn't have the side to exploit that fact, but others have. That's one of the problems with 4-3-3. In this instance though it was just rank bad defending of a set piece.
Let's hope the forwards can dig us out of a hole yet again.

No, been thinking this for a while now, it appears Oxford are almost certainly going to let in one goal in each match, pressure then on the forwards to get at least two goals per game to have any chance of winning.

To be fair its now a while since we conceeded from open play and theat game was something of an exception. Its not the defending per se, but the defending of set pieces that is the problem.

Could try the Champ Manager 01-02 formation of doom...attacking 5-3-2. Three centre backs, two attacking full-backs, two defensive midfielders, one in the hole behind two strikers.
Though we would then have to buy Maxim Tsigalko for it to work...
