That is really fantastic news. If we can get in the play-offs then there will be at least one extra big pay day so maybe that will help us retain him beyond this season. Lets wait until then though to worry about that.

I wonder if anyone (a sponsor maybe) is helping out with his wages?

Who knows? Once a player is on a long-term loan the chances increase of him staying
Just like Beano.

Quality news about a Quality player - So so different to past seasons when we had to make do with players clearly not up to it and only looking to the next pay packet. This Football Club is going in the right direction and i'm ecstatic! E-I-E-I-E-I OOOOOOOOOOoooooo

Kinni and Macca, it's good having Rangers as our feeder club.

Constable wasn't going to sign because we couldn't afford him. Chapman wasn't going to sign because we couldn't afford him. Wright wasn't going to sign because we couldn't afford him. So why not MacLean?!! I had heard we couldn't afford him........

I sit here reading this suffering from gastric flu and a runny-nose cold. But I feel great now! I sit here reading this having come out of hospital and having not eaten or slept for 4 days and 4 nights. But now I also feel somewhat better and lifted by this great news! Amazing what a good dollop of positive OUFC news can do. Dr K Thomas, you have prescribed just the medication I need.

Absolutely fantastic news. This'll give everyone a huge boost and help the push for play-offs or even straight up. Currently, the only one thing that I can think of that might equal this good news is an SMS saying that we are going back to all yellow tops next season! I really cannot take to the 'new' kit!

Lets not get carried away and put the weight of our expectations on Steve's shoulders, lets just roar them on and see what happens..
We still have the defence of a mid table team !!

Constable wasn't going to sign because we couldn't afford him. Chapman wasn't going to sign because we couldn't afford him. Wright wasn't going to sign because we couldn't afford him. So why not MacLean?!! I had heard we couldn't afford him........ You're right. The club said they couldn't afford his full wages, hence Plymouth paying some. We are supposed to be paying more though, according to Peter Reid, than we were in his initial loan deal. The question is if we can get promotion (still a long shot for me) then more revenues will come in (an example would be Exeter signing Jamie Cureton or Bristol Rovers with Will Hoskins who won't be cheap). Also, if he likes it here then Macca may consider staying based on what we are paying him (if it is still a decent amount of his current salary) even if still in L2 as he will have some financial security, or we may be able to get a sponsor to cover the difference. All ifs and buts whichever way it is looked at financially. It could also depend on how he plays for us in the meantime, if he does well then other clubs (higher than us) may well take notice. Whatever happens in the summer, I hope he has a successful and enjoyable time for the remainder of the season. In the mean time we get to enjoy having a player of higher league quality as part of OUFC's squad which is a giant leap from the likes of Marvin Robinson, Jamie Guy and Grebis!

Magnificent that we got a deal done, I really didn't expect it. I now hope that in the summer we are involved in a huge battle for him with other clubs, as that would mean he's done the business here.
Well done to all involved in making it happen.
