Yes, been to Bangkok several times and Phuket once. Been to Phnom Pehn and Siem Reap in Cambodia, Hanoi and down to Danang in Vietnam. Lived in Singapore for 18 months and been there over 10 times. If you want any advice, help, recommendations feel free to PM me, depending on what you are planning to do. Not planning to go to China or Hong kong? Nice one. I will deffo be asking you for advice then. Have no plans to go there, but i would love to visit China at some point. China fascinates me. any places that are a definate must see/avoid would be appreciated. What's the weather likely to be like at that time of year? Thailand is a good interesting place although can be spoilt. Its rapidly becoming too commercialised almost like Benidorm. If you come to Thailand, visit places like Chang Mai, just dont go to Pattaya, get pissed, etc and say you have done Thailand. Phnom Penh is interesting cause of the Palaces and is not over commercialised. Also have prisons and killing fields which are eerie. Siem Reap is in my view one of THE places to visit in the world. Is a great little city with good accomadation, bars, restaurants, but of course Ankor Wat! Amazing temples which take 3 or 4 days to explore by tut-tut. Hanoi was fascinating because yet to be commercialised, people so friendly, cheap market shopping, and great palaces. Danang is great cause near Hoi An, with the fantastic 13 mile sandy beach, traditional chinese houses. Singapore, well its so clean, modern, friendly. Best way to describe it is as Switzerland of the far east. All these places is likely to be HOT! in the 30c's and humid

That's brilliant, thanks HKYelllow
What's the prices like over that way? I've heard it's very cheap, but I'd imagine the more touristy places will be more expensive. How much is beer/accommodation/good food roughly? How much would you say a good daily allowance would be?
thanks for your help again

But I guess your backpacking which I have never done. Beer is cheap as with accomodation and food, 30 or 40GBP a day?, except for Singapore which is a expensive city. Do bring plenty of Immodium Plus as no doubt you will get the shits somewhere.

Tip about dehydration which can be a real problem once the runs gets you. Eat two slices of buttered toast with salt (not too much salt) every morning, even when there are no problems with the rear exhaust.

Good advice HKYellow. I'm heading to SE Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore) in December, so will be bearing all this in mind.
There's also a possibility that a.) we'll stop over in Hong Kong for a night or two on the way to Hanoi & b.) me & Mrs Yellow might have two other Oxford fans travelling with us. If we stop in HK, then I'll send you a message.
