Oxfordirons mentioned the Brunell (spelt right?) Rooms with the revolting bar. I seem to recall going there in the '70s with my mate, after a Speedway match. Unless Father Time has suddenley crept up on me and smashed my memory cells, I seem to recall someone getting stabbed that night.

Sarge, his name was Rupert ......................and he was in the Navy.................. and you want to know what happened to him? I shudder to think................you know, lonely men at sea and all that! I had a mate called Tim Adams, from Wendover, Bucks., who used to go to United games, home and away, with me and mates. He was the one who came to Rotherham with me in the '70s and we both pretended to be from Rotherham, with a sh*tty fake accent! He joined the RAF and was sent to (soon to be f*cked by the Tories) Lossiemouth, up in Scotland. Anyone got any up to date news on the whereabouts of Martin Cooper? He was a loon, but a bluddy fun bloke to be with!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roy Burton is doing very well for himself letting out houses in Oxford for students. He lives over in Lechlade.
Had a drink the other week with Roy,we were at a Funeral of an old friend of ours,he was pretty cut up,but apart from that he doesnt change.

Roy made some memorable saves in his time at United. One that sticks out was at Coventry, in the F U Cup in the '80s. Brian Moore RIP described it as the 'save of the season'.
I must admit, though, Ryan Clarke has been a revelation this season.

Apparantly, he moved abroad. I've always been a large thing, but he was like a human hippo! Someone said he lost loads of weight - it wouldn't look right, a slim Martin! He was one of those characters from the glorious past.

There was also a funny little bar sort of 'upstairs' that had a small window looking down on the ballroom (there was a pool table in there too!) I saw lots of great bands at the Cali, but funnily enough one of the best 'shows' and atmosphere nights was KC and the Sunshine Band! Hamilton Bohannon(spelling?) was also a quality night. As i said, great, great days! Regads j

What do you think of Jasper Carrott? Don't think he still tours as he made a fortune from the company making "who wants to be a millionaire".

martin cooper wasn't he called Half pint? Fatbloke - you've been misinformed. Martin was called 'half-pint'? He was the whole f*cking brewery, mate! He wasn't all that tall, but I bet his waist(s) was around 5 foot! He always used to have his crash-hat with him at the Manor. Many a time did it land on an away fan's head!

Rotherham is one of those places that we go to and hardly ever win.
But.
Today is a new ground (in Sheffield) We've got three new players and with that, renewed hope. We'll have a 'new' Constable if someone else has the captain's armband. Do I think we'll lose today? Noo!

I honestly reckon that those three new players, plus Jake Wright is going to make a great difference to our team. One problem, though, is which one out of McClean, Constable or Craddock do you leave out? I really thought CW had bought a wonder winger when we first got Mitchell Cole - why oh why hasn't he shown the form that we know he is capable of? Why can't we have Steve K at left back? Why can't we have Battman at right back? Why can't I win the f*cking lottery? 'Y' comes after 'X' and 'Y' front underpants!

Just bought my tickets for Saturday against the Gills. I predict a 2-2 draw with Maclean and Constable getting the goals. I also say 1000 Gills' fans will come. We always used to have a barney with their lot. I hope this time we don't give the TVP an excuse for their officers' overtime and just keep to friendly banter. Weren't Gillingham one of the favourites to go up this term? We went there once and Gary Barnett (3' 6" tall!) scored an equaliser for us.
