I'm a bit worried I'm going to wake up for real soon and realise that scorecard was all part of a (brilliant!) dream!

What do we expect from day 2? If there is cloud cover and the Aussie bowlers get some swing, we may be in trouble (or all out for under 300, still a good lead) If its clear, we could get to 500+

Brilliant stuff from England. If you're gonna stuff it to the Aussies, what better time to do it than on the first day of a test in front 90'000 convicts at the MCG! ;D Couldn't have written the script better. And to rub it in more, we Strauss and Cook have taken us fifty runs clear, and we still haven't lost a wicket.

50 runs clear with no wickets down. unbelievable.
happy to be proved wrong about bresnan so far, thought he bowled absolutely beautifully. Well done to the selectors for a brave decision and likewise to strauss for the brave call to bowl first.
worst case scenario tonight? all out for a further 150 and bowl at the aussies with a lead of 200.
best case scenario...bat all day and bowl at the aussies with a lead of 350+
this could be the deciding day in this series, as long as england bat sensibly, they can end it as a contest today.

Only watched to lunch as knackered from Xmas day and we stayed at the inlaws so couldn't do an allnighter!
Think we will go ok today, cook will go on to a big ton... Lead of 300+ ...

No team in last 100 years has gone on to win after being dismissed for less than 100 in first innings - please don't let this lot be first!
(i think I heard that stat right - if not, please send your complaints to Arthur Bell Esq A Distillery Scotland
Thanks!)

lead nearly 200 for just 2 wickets. disappointment at the two wickets but still a seriously dominant position.
