I switched to Sky from Virgin and to be honest wished I had stayed with Virgin. For TV go Sky...for broadband Virgin although TalkTalk are highly rated too

I had something similar a few months back. Spoke to a nice Indian lady at customer support and eventually they decided it was a very localised fault and they sent an engineer round the next day. He fiddled around with my settings and the box at the end of my street and put a new modem in and I've not had a problem since.

Virgin get a lot of stick but I've only ever had an outage once and it was fixed very quickly, and I was kept informed what was going on as well.
People never consider the fact that you get 5x higher speeds with Virgin by default than the vast majority of ADSL connections.

That would be my point too. Virgin was always quicker than my Sky connection

AOL is shite - constantly cuts out and is generally rubbish.
Cannot wait to convince mother to change to BT or Sky.

Sky is the best bet. You get more channels of interest. The only thing I miss is Tom and Jerry because I don't have the cartoon channel
