Does this mean if I flew out independently I could win a medal due to lack of competition?
Mind you I'd come last in whatever race I entered. :-)

You would have thought there'd be better supervision of the construction to ensure it was ready come the opening date.
Whichever way you slice it its a massive embarrasment for india. The Games were supposed to showcase the 'new' india to the world, and this fiasco has succeeded only in giving the opposite impression.

Yep when you think of the recent successess of China and South Africa, it doesn't look good for a country projected to have the largest economy in the world before long.

They might have got this current Commonwealth Games, but they lost out on their bid to host a piss up in a brewery to The City of London for the annual bankers back slapping this week. Hmmmm.

It doesnt suprise me really. The problem with India has always been infrastructure. That will always hold them back and they will struggle to compete with the likes of China.
Also, unfortunately Indians and some countries will invest but endeavour to do things on the cheap. This has been evident in recent earthquakes where building have fallen down very easily due to use of cheap materials and shoddy workmanship in order to reduce costs.
In some countries I have seen highways that were built 3 years ago that need to be rebuilt as they have fallen apart!
Its a shame really because India is a great country with good people

Was just thinking about all the potholes in UK roads and the pope's spokesman calling the UK a 3rd world country...... To be fair to the cardinal i don't think the comment referred to the infrastructure but more to the multicultural makeup of parts of britain and the agressive atheism which pervades modern culture.

This forum would be an awfully boring place if the odd tongue in cheek comment didn't come out.
