Probably less than £1000 a week. This isn't the championship.

So you know what other clubs are paying their players? Are Southend near their chairman's claim of having a £1.4million wage bill? My initial thought was blinking heck that is a lot of money but thinking about it, a team of 24 players. 24 x say 1,000 pounds a week (seriously not a lot of money) 52k year x 24 = 1.248 Million. Then the other staff, like I said not a lot of money when you break everything down. Now I’m sure everyone on here will be thinking not everyone’s paid 1k a week and that I am sure of but some will be on a lot more so I’m assuming an average. So in conclusion I would expect our wage bill to somewhere near that number. What you have missed out is Employers NIC --- this adds a bit onto the salary costs... so probably less...

Wait until Football Manager 2011 is out, and you'll have your answer.

I expect at this level, considering increases for us being increased someones wages to be;
Beano being one of our top players
close to 1,000 a week Appearence 150-250 for being in the squad 100-200 goal bonus Signing on fee between 15,000 to 20,000 spread over the period of the contract

do you think we'd pay more or less than last year? i would have thought more but then again it may be easier to attract players to a league club

Some players will have "promotion increases" so say Beano was on 900 last year and has a 10% increase in his contract should we get promoted then would be on 990 or round off to 1000 this year.
I think CW and KT will pay a sensible amount to bring a player to the club but wouldnt think not many if any are over the 1,000 a month mark

Once you add signing on fee, appearance/clean sheet/goal fee's it would be far too much and think KT is been quite sensible. Remember wages have gone down quite a bit in the last 2 years

Mate - they earn betwen 25,000 and 100, 000 each. Some more than others. £100,000 ! No chance. I know for an absolute fact that Yemi Odubade has been the highest earning Oxford player in the last four or so years and his deal, at one stage, was £1100-1200 per week. Turley's final deal was just over £900 a week and most top earners will be in that grand a week bracket. Salaries might have gone up for the coming season but I would be very surprised if there was an Oxford player on any more than £60-65,000 a year tops. The most noteable increase would be that of Wilder. As I understand it he was on a pretty meagre starting salary - £25-30,000 a year - but his salary is likely to have almost doubled. I heard that Wilder didn't even want to discuss money when he started such was his entuisiasm for getting a chance with a top level BSP club. He was so keen to prove himself but now he has proved his worth his salary will have shot up. Interesting, i was told by someone who i believe would be right that Gilchrist was on £3k a week. Thus my pro young hungry something to proove stance on signings.

On basic salary no player was on anything near £1000 per week last season but they did have good win etc. bonuses on top of the basic.
I believe a similar approach has been adopted for this season, lower basic salaries with decent bonuses to top it up, i.e. give the players an incentive to earn their money.

I was reading some rants elsewhere that doctors (people who save life's) earn too much at £100,000 a year. It may be entertaining, but kicking a ball is surely not as important as being a doctor? There is too much money in football, and to much investment in stadiums, whilst schools and hospitals need money spending on them.
Great to hear that Wilder took the Oxford job for the opportunity to do well, rather than the money! Probably why he has been so successful..
