Having talked to a number of fans, there is a feeling that off the back of the Wembly final the club should be really going for a sell out crowd for the Bury game by whipping up the hype of the first game back in the football league!
Are the club doing enough here for the first game? should the fans be helping in some way? Is it just not possible? WHat crowd do we think were set for anyway?

I heard a rumour at City(overheard someone talking who was wearing a club tie with a Brummie accent) that the Bury game is already close to a sell out for Oxford fans.

Considering there were 33,000 real fans/day trippers at our last competitive game then you would hope at the very least 25% of those will attend the following match. I mean what more can the club and team do to attract fans. The 33,000 were given a fabulous day out, saw 'their' team play with a real swagger and battle like men possessed for every single ball.
It was a performance to be genuinely proud of and if more than 25,000 of those go missing come Bury then that is a bloody disgrace to be honest with you. It wont be anything to do with Oxford United FC if the game is attended by anything less than 8,000 yellows, they've done their bit in the last match and during the last season.

Agree with OUFC1975. The club has really missed an opportunity for the Bury game. It has done ZERO promotion for what should be a day of celebration and something we have been waiting for 4 years to witness. I find it shocking that nobody at the club has taken steps to promote this game in recent weeks.

I find it shocking that nobody at the club has taken steps to promote this game in recent weeks. Get real. How the **** does this game need promoting ? If fans can't be bothered to get off their backsides for the first game back in the league for 4 years and on the back of the Wembley turn out then it's disgraceful. What do you want ? 5,000 leaflets distributing across Oxford reminding people, just in case they'd forgotten, that we won the play off in May and the season kicks off on 7th August. Anybody unaware that OUFC kick off on Saturday shouldn't bother coming. I agree that some games need promoting but this sure isn't one of those.

Good post Baldy, after 33,000 turned up for the Wemberley game we shouldn't need to remind all and sundry about the Bury game.

The club haven't missed the opportunity yet but if they don't pull their finger out then yes they would have missed a trick.
There are 12 days until the Bury game, plenty of time to stoke it up.

i'm with baldy on this one. we had 33,000 yellows at wembley two months ago. if we dont get 8,000 - 10,000 for the bury game its an embarrassment. i know there were people who came from abroad/took days off work/cancelled holiday etc, but surely there cant have been 25,000 who were just there for the day?

For crying out loud, the club have been promoting the friendly’s and the youth game last weekend. Give them a chance. As has been said its 12 days away yet. Plus they have the Bristol Rovers game to promote not forgetting everyone that come to that game extra revenue goes to the club as even season ticket holders have to pay for a ticket. I.e. funds not already allocated.

Actually there probably was! If not more, don't forget 6,004 average home fans last season. Only about a 15% increase in season ticket sales so I guess about 6,905 average this season.

Disagree Baldy. I understand what you're saying but remember these aren't the full timers like ourselves. They're people who have floated for the last ten years. We need to shove the Bury game down their throats as they may not have been to the Kassam EVER!

I did not renew one of my lads season tickets this year and I did not get a call from the club over this so you have no chance of getting a call over a single game.
