Out of the 18 articles (excluding promotions) on the website this week, only 5 were free to view. T The amount of articles and interviews have increased a lot though as well. Before, it tended to be the advertising stuff and major news items with only an occasional interview whereas now there are far more interviews for Yellow Player as well as the existing content. The interviews have always tended to be for subscribers on Yellow Player with only the odd exception being available for free. So for me, the free view stuff hasn't reduced but rather the pay for articles/interviews have increased significantly. As said, this has led to free articles getting pushed off the main menu too quickly which is the main problem. As long as all the main articles (such as Macca signing)/match reports/match photos continue and remain easily noticeable on the main menu then it isn't a problem. The new website manager is understandably keen to demonstrate the benefits of Yellow Player as that is part of his remit according to the blurb when his appointment was announced. As long as they get to grips with the balance of the main menu between free/paid for articles, then all they've done is increase paid for content. This will I suspect filter into more free articles as well in time after major interviews have been up for a bit of time. I'll let them get their feet under the table and get to grips with PTV's rubbish template first though. Also, to make Yellow Player better, longer highlights of matches are a must for me. To make them 10 mins or more would be fantastic to cover the major moments and good/controversial moments where possible. Hayes & Yeading manage it and Mansfield do it on their PTV player for this length of time and we obviously have the coverage already. This would make Yellow Player more interesting and worthwhile especially for exiles I suspect and potentially getting more local custom as well.

I accept the point that too many YP content may push the breaking news stories out of the 'latest headlines' box - but i think there is little the club can do about that, it's the PTV format. You manually choose whether you want videos "homepaged" or just put into Player. The new men probably don't realise this (although they will do if they read this...)

BBC film and edit the highlights for every club's Player sites. The club has no say regarding the duration because they're getting a free service.

Seems like there is a lot more YP content. They almost interviewed all of the crowd for the Thame match.

The interviewer did ask twice what is what going to be like running out in front of 1600 AWAY FANS!
But he asked MacClean (ex Rangers and Plymouth) and Wright (ex Brighton) - who probably had to bite their tongues, and of course praise our 'magnificent support' for fear of any backlash.

As i see it YP is supposed to offer exclusive content. Now, I would have signed up anyway as being an exile its the only way i can listen to the radox coverage, but it did grate somewhat that the supposedly exclusive content i was paying for was being released free, albeit in typed up form on the official site.

Winge, Winge, Winge when there isn't enough content.
Winge, Winge, Winge when there is too much content.
Put your money where your mouth is and support the club.. Just my opinion, like.

Erm can't we do that by going to games? Not everything has to be corporate greed. Its a community thing not Goldman Sachs

If you're that bothered about it to have a good old moan on here then just bite the bullet and pay the small fee to get access to it all.
I'd quite like to see the MacLean video, but there's no way I'd subscribe to Yellow player unless I lived abroad. I'm suffering from minimal envy though, it seems others are succumbing to it rather more and the increased YP content has caused it to rise up in them.
Not directed at you Otto, I agree that all that needs doing is to re-organise the news feed and separate the content more obviously.

In fairness to the new Commmuniations Manager its difficult to lay the blame with him given that he dopesn't start until Monday 24th as I understand it
The club will bleed us for every penny, always have and under the current regime its been worse than ever. The beauty is that we all do have a choice and don't have to pay
Does sometimes feel that the balance is not quite right though

You say "the club will bleed us for every penny". You should have been around in the Maxwell era when, if we drew an attractive team in a cup, the prices often increased MASSIVELY and you probably had to also buy tickets for a league match as well. I remember one league match where there were almost revolving turnstiles as people bought a ticket for the league game and picked up a voucher for the cup game then immediately left the ground to join the queue to do the same again. For one cup game, when there was not a league game before the game, we had about 5000 people at reserve game!

I waste enough time online reading about oxford. Im worried about part timers feeling theyre out the loop, and the club is inaccessible to them. The lack of material readily available and they'll just switch to another website and be less interested and less likely to come to games.

The official website is for anyone worldwide to see whats going on at Oxford United. An increase is pay only material, means the neutral observer, or part time Oxford fan, wont view it as much, and interest could be lost if there is little free material

Today there are 6 stories on the home page. 2 are video interviews with Wilder as a pre-match and post-match. The others are a written Northampton preview, dates for the USA invasion, advert for Shrewsbury boxes, team news, and the match report. Seems like a good enough mix to me. If the Wilder interview gets summarised for Monday afternoon I think that will be a good balance.
I first bought yellow player / world when we were in L2 for the live match commentaries and the goal highlights. When we went to BSP, the match highlights disappeared, were put up on youtube anyway, and the commentaries were available online with Radio Oxford for UK exiles, which made it a bit of a waste of time.
