I'm not saying that we should be rude or aggressive to other fans. Okay, I'm not going to get carried away and state that I am fully against FV. It has its place and casual culture is an important part of footbal identify. But please don't be overly nice to other fans. Have a chat, say hello but don't make them feel too welcome. Makes us look like a bunch of gimps and at the end of the day it's about getting Oxford to win. We don't want away fans feeling too comfortable, getting behind their team and acting as though they are welcome. So please be nice but only to a small extent.

I'd say away fans are more likely to get behind their team when they face hostility from opposition fans so don't quite see your point

If our place is an intimidating place to come, it can only help us, and make it more difficult for away teams

Don't see my point...be nice.
I guess it's about fight or flight.
Fans always act more cocky when they feel comfortable.

Ever since I started having jelly and ice cream for breakfast I've started looking at football in a new way. Call me strange if you like.

If our place is an intimidating place to come, it can only help us, and make it more difficult for away teams I think our place is an intimidating place for us to come to, as shown by some of the performances this season......

Not sure if 'we' are too nice, just a little restrained like an Englishman should be old chap. But, ruffle our feathers -or worse, pretend you have 'taken' our Boozer and woe betides you.. We would do well to remember that many opposition fans still think that because of the College links to the City we're all a soft touch who wouldn't say Goo to a Boose. )

As far as I'm concerned every away supporter is welcome to visit the Kassam. They all pay to come to our ground and that money goes to OUFC. There's nothing worse than sitting in the SSU and seeing lots of empty seats in the away section of the North stand. Empty seats = lost revenue and no Oxford supporter can want that.

I don't get this either. Surely if we sing "It's nice to know you're here, now sit down and make yourselves comfortable" is less likely to promote a reaction than telling them to f*** off.
If we rouse them, won't they try to defend their team.

Should this include our resident plastics ?

I think our reaction to away fans needs to be proportionate and relevant. What's the point of getting all aggressive with 86 harmless Macclesfield fans? What's the point of gloating about their poor support, or telling them we can't hear them. That's just embarrassing.
On the other hand, bigger supports like Vale, Shots, Northampton, Gillingham, Bradford (etc) should be firmly aggravated all match long.

This is a hard question and a good question! I think that as a club we have been to nice and like church mice,4 some bigger games like Gillingham and then again the Shots game was a bit OTT! Whatever we think intimidating, does not happen very often at our yard, apart from a few games, now you could say that is a good or bad thing! The problem is the ground, and may be seating, but also the fact in the good old days (80s) in the main,a good part of our singers was "lads" now days not the case, and if you look at our singers now they could not fight their way out of a paper bag!!!lol Same with local pubs, yes may be we have been soft, then again I dont think Vale would think that, from what I hear on hear say!So I think constant would be good!

The problem is the ground, and may be seating, but also the fact in the good old days (80s) in the main,a good part of our singers was "lads" ! UTM - certainly true that at the Manor our most vociferous singers had a large quota of "lads" amongst them. I think our current lads find it "uncool" to sing, even at away games. You can bet your life that the Neanderthal Bradford fans last Saturday were not singing and clapping their hands at the back of the away stand! Consequently, if a bunch of largely shirted fans are singing it's hardly likely to put the fear of God into away fans. What I'm saying (eventually) is that OUFC should pay a few score of mental cases from across Oxfordshire - doesn't matter if they're supporters or not - to shout aggressively at away fans in the ground (except Macc) and follow it up with some good, old-fashioned violence after the game. This message was brought to you by the "Restore the 1980s - you know it makes sense" campaign.

Now the good old fashion violence, bit is a big NO,no need or call for such things in the modern game! I think just swearing could be wrong as well, from what I hear from hear say! But you get my point? Oh restore the 80s....ah I do miss them when men wear pink, and its cool!?
