Mr Vulcan! (K!) I'll have you know I lasted three Cudd-bashing rounds! That night at the fair, you, me and a few other mates from Northway went to the pub first then on to the fair. By the time the fight started, I'd smoked 20 fags and sank 3-4 pints of Dutch courage. When we got there, the announcer asked for two boxers to come forward. Enter donkey b*llocks! At first nobody would fight me. Then someone came forward. What the f*cker didn't tell me was that he was already a boxer! Oh, crap! Well, at least he couldn't get rid of me! I was totally Knackered and busting for a pee! Oh and yeh, I did go in fist and feet didn't I! Thanks for bringing that up Pal! The ref gave it as a draw, but I think he would've won on points and the comedy factor!

Hi gobbysheite! Where the bloody hell did you get that name from! (Not bad tho) Yes I do remember that game! Every time a coach went by, we all dived over to the window to make it look like there was a full coachload! The thing is,; on the previous home game, over 40 people said they wanted to go, so I booked a 53 seater up, hoping a few more would turn up! Yeh, that was one of my F*ck-up jobs! We used to have good laughs tho, didn't we! I think that was the game where we kept throwing things at their fans! They'd pick them up and chuck 'em back at us! Gay Meadow? Gay tw*ts!

I don't know if it's because I'm really ill, or living in the past - but yeh, you're right old son. We should have an old gits' reunion! That'd be summat else. By the way, you asked if I remembered you. Er, I didn'tt know anyone called gobbysheite! And even if I did, I doubt I'd call you that to yer face!

gobbysheite. I remember a bloke called Harry from Bicester! This chap was rather well-built and usually had a beard or loads of stubble. I think he might have been a Northerner, although I could be wrong! If I remember correctly, me and him went to Newport County, first game of the season in around '77/'78. We both walked through their main stand to get to the oxford fans behind the goal. we lost the game. Surely that's not you is it? Yeh, I'll go for a drink with you harry! (I cant drink alcohol 'cos I'm a diabetic)

Actually, Vulcan (K) I think you're right about the police and away fans. It's just that I suggested it and they ended up in the Cuckoo Lane. On another note, any older fans with memories of the past; please keep them coming! Younger fans may not believe it, but years ago, us old farts used to 'right old lads', including VULCAN XH558! Vulcan, can you remember that time I made a TIT of myself when I boxed at St Giles' Fair in '76? ;D... Probally difficult for the younger ones(listen to me) to understand that in 'them days' it was a completely different culture to now, and fair to say a very different breed of lads n lasses supporting the U's!!! Yeah plenty of Aggro but to my knowledge it was usually a 'fair fight' none of this stabbing someone in the back (literally today) stuff. Mostly we seemed to have a lot more characters (Nutters!) back then, but everyone stood together no matter who the opposition, Villa being a good example. I recognise a lot of the people mentioned in this topic, but there are many 'faces' who you got to know if not their names! UTM.

I can't remember his name but he used to be with his best mate all the time, I think his best mates name began with "J" you might remember who his best mate was?

gobbysheite. Watcha Harry me old mate! Sorry to hear you've got diabetes, like me. It's all those bloody beers we used to have, innit?. Was I right about the 'Northern' bit? you might not be as big as you were, but unfortunately I've gone the other way! (I have to go to 'Mr. Fat B*stards' to get my clothes!). I def. remember you as one of the 'lads'. We don't get the same type of characters as we used to, do we? As soon as you express yourself at a match today, a camera zooms in on you and you're either chucked out or arrested!

Alan East, there's a name from the past. He lives in Bournemouth now, still see him at the odd game.
It was an interesting time, as we had two Directors (Doc Morris and Peter Marsh) who were experts in hooliganism, So it could be said that we were only following official club policy!!!
Do any of you remember going to Peter Marsh's house in Divinity Rd and helping him with his research? I remember going there once or twice, and I remember a certain club secretary being present.

Minor details Eric, but Alan lives in Poole & it was Dr.Desmond Morris. I remember a party at Peter Marsh's where I got in to a discussion with Des Morris about fans holding their arms in the air as they sang. He first noticed it at a Chuck Berry concert, but observed similar behaviour in Orangutans. I couldn't talk to that guy without feeling that I was being analysed. Most of my time with Peter Marsh was at his office at the dept of phsychology & zoology.

I remember Peter Marsh as well . Me, him, Martin Cooper, Mick Brown, two young brothers, one of whom was called Louie, went on a telly programme called Horizon. It was about football hooligans. We got paid about £6 each! Actually, I've got to admit, Mick (who gives a F*uck about registerring players) Brown used to be a really good United follower. Me and him went bloody everywhere with Oxford United. We got all the way to Carlisle, and we were late getting there. Oxford lost and we missed the goal(s)

Talking about that carlisle game; We were stood behind the goal (about 100 of us). One of their fans, obviously, disabled, was shouting something like; "Come on Carlisle! Wuh! Wuh!" Brownie shouted out "It's not his fault he's a spastic!" Yep! That's our secretary! Good on yer Mick! Ettiquette and witty banter! Who remembers Leicester away in the Cup in the Seventies? Thousands of us were crammed into the side stand. A Leicester steward walked by, on the side of the pitch. He had a walking disability and every time he made a step forward, his head kept bobbing backwards and forwards. We all sang: "chick chick chick chick, chicken, lay a little egg for me!" Cruel b*stards, eh!

Happy days!! Can any of you remember the walk from the Greyhound to the Cuckoo Lane end disguised as Swindon scum, and then kicking of right in the middle of them!! What a reception when we were led around the pitch back to the London Road end and nobody got nicked!
