Finally moved back up this way after a few years out of the loop in Eastbore. Just wondered what the best way to bus it is from Abingdon. Was thinking couple of pints in town then x3 to ox station then was unsure.
So thought I'd ask what the best way to and from the ground is from Abingdon. Been lucky and have had lifts so far this season.
Cheers

If you can get to the Oxford train station then you'd take the Blackbird Leys no.5 bus which is like 35mins and only like £2 return.
Then you say Knights Road (I think its called that) and you get off when all Oxford get off and follow them.

You are lucky. I reckon we are at least twelve years from moving back to Oxford. ruled out Headington as impossible to park and difficult to get into third gear

Cheers Joe, had a private taxi so to speak when I left to go to uni and was coming from Banbury. I will give that a go on Sat I thought it would be the blackbird let's bus but wasn't sure how things have changed.
It's been exactly 5 years since I left and I have looked forward to getting back. Oxfords travels to Eastbore were my annual highlight, how I'm glad things have changed

You could try the 35? bus through Radley get off at Sandford Lane just before Kennington, then it is about 2 miles walk to the stadium across the lock, via the Kings Arms, Catherine Wheel and Priory. The Catherine Wheel in Sandford perhaps still does a £1 minibus there from about 2:30?

I live in on the radley road and this is what I do, get off the bus, 5 mins walk to kings arms quick pint, then two minutes wall to catherine wheel where I'll have a few then either a 15 min walk to priory or catch the 1 pound mini bus from cat wheel 2.30-2.45 ish it is Prefer the priory but depends on being arsed to walk

Yeah have parked in sandford and had a couple in the kings arms before the priory otherwise will be nags head or boundary house then bus into ox change and up to the priory that way I suppose it's six of one and half a dozen of the other really. Cheers for the alternative though

Where you living kidintheriot? Sounds like it could be a plan at some point or meet in the pub and bus it at some point. Been doing the Sanford route last couple of times so may give the bus a go for a couple of weeks, 20 mins from Abingdon to the station get the bus so all in all probably an hour trip that way which isn't bad. Had a look at cabs saw it was about 17 quid or so but may have been wrong. Have a word with a few others steventon, Drayton etc and get a minibus

Why don't people hitch lifts any more? I used to- all over the place watching Oxford. You wear the colours, you stick up your thumb, you get a lift. and bingo you get there for nowt. Oh, the youth of today!

Walking along the A34 in the pissing rain waiting to be mown down by a pissed up polish lorry driver or the x3 with whiskey in the hip flask. I don't think you will be twisting my arm with the hitch hiking. The summer maybe with a few ales.

Know what you're saying carefreeoufc, it's probably a bit more dicey nowadays, but that's what we did. .... PS I don't travel that way any-more , got me own transport now. But if I was travelling to a game and someone was hitching a lift (and wearing the colours) I would of course give him/her a lift.

(DazBus are suppose to be quite good.)

I just always got a lift there, 15 minutes with no traffic, straight up the A34/Ring Road. I lived on that side of Abingdon right on the north edge so took no time at all getting out of Abingdon. I recall it being about £10-12 in a taxi. Could be wrong. Most of the times I'd had a few.

£10 to £12 from Abingdon to the Kassam is ok if you share the cost.
