I don't think it was for boxes. I thought it was for some kind of social club / lounge.

I don't think it was for boxes. I thought it was for some kind of social club / lounge. I just don't see how access would work. Social club would need WC's surly this would just create a major issue.

I heard there is space for a supports club There is, under OM stand in between the lots of turnstiles. The top part of the stand was DEFINATELY built for boxes. Wouldn't want them ever tho!!

The back of the East Stand was not designed for more hospitality boxes.
The idea was to have one long glass frontage with a couple of hundred cinema style seats behind with waitress style service etc.
There is a huge void in the East Stand - there could be 3 floors. The ground floor was to incorporate the club offices, ticket office and club shop.
The supporters club was planned to go on the first floor level.
A planning application was submitted in 2002 for the ground floor of the East Stand to be changed to a sports injuries clinic and for offices to be built on the first floor. This would have meant the loss of the supporters club. (Kassam really cared about us - didn't he?)
The application was approved, planning lasted for five years from March 2002 with a condition that before the clinic and offices are brought into use, details of the provision of a supporters club were to be provided and approved by planners.
Firoz Kassam wanted to move the proposed supporters club to the second floor with its fit out paid for by income generated from the new sports injuries clinic.

Brilliant, thanks for filling us in. I thought I was going a bit mad. Wonder what would happen if we bought the ground?

It's clear that there could be ancillary facilities incorporated in the stadium that could generate good levels of income if provided. Sports Injuries clinic, supporters club and maybe the Oxford Learning United facility is outgrowing its current space? I think that makes money. However, property developer and stadium owner Firoz Kassam has n't seized any opportunities for some reason. Is it viable ? It was OXVox who lobbied the council officers into inserting a clause in the planning permission that Kassam must provide the Supporters Club before the Sports Injuries Clinic was brought into use. That annoyed FK - big time

A supporters club in the back of the OM would be a decent idea. If it were placed on the top floor it could presumably be accessible during the match which would be a novel feature. Not sure ablout the legislation regarding the sale of items especially booze while the match is in play though. Plus we'd have to own the ground first but its worth investigating surely.

A supporters club in the OM is a terrible idea as it would mean that no one from the north or south stands would have access to it.

Yes, no worse than having one round the back of the London Road stand. Bring it on. We'll need more and more places once our average crowds enter 5 figures.

A supporters club in the OM is a terrible idea as it would mean that no one from the north or south stands would have access to it. Like the one in the SS? Obviously you wouldn't be able to access it during the match if you weren't in the OM but you could get in before and after the game just like the SS bar.
